Make a rich and velvety smooth white hot chocolate on the stovetop using real white chocolate for the best flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Whole Milk
  • 8 ounces good quality White Chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Heat the milk until small bubbles form around the edges, but do not let it boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low. Add the chopped white chocolate to the warm milk.
  3. Whisk constantly until the white chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. This takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue to whisk gently until the sugar dissolves completely.
  5. Taste the hot chocolate and add more sugar if you prefer it sweeter.
  6. Pour the white hot chocolate into mugs immediately and serve hot.

Notes

  • For an extra rich drink, substitute 1/2 cup of the milk with heavy cream.
  • Use white chocolate chips or baking bars; avoid using white baking wafers as they contain less cocoa butter and may result in a thinner texture.
  • Top with whipped cream or toasted marshmallows for serving.
