Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 10-inch oven-safe skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Spread about two-thirds of the dough into the prepared skillet.
  8. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough in the skillet.
  9. Dollop the remaining dough over the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. While the cinnamon roll is baking, prepare the glaze. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Once the cinnamon roll is out of the oven, let it cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top.

Notes

  • For an extra gooey center, you can add a few dollops of cream cheese to the cinnamon-sugar layer.
  • Feel free to add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the filling.
  • Serve warm with a glass of milk for the ultimate comfort treat.
