Follow this recipe to make baked salmon coated in garlic butter and topped with a bright lemon garlic sauce. This dish is simple to prepare for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Sauce:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the 4 tablespoons of softened butter, 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until you have a smooth garlic butter spread.
  3. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Rub the garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of each fillet.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil lightly over the salmon and the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your fillets.
  6. While the salmon bakes, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the 4 tablespoons of butter.
  7. Add the 2 minced garlic cloves to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  9. Once the salmon is cooked, transfer the fillets to serving plates. Spoon the warm lemon garlic sauce generously over each piece of salmon before serving.

Notes

  • To prevent the garlic from burning, keep the heat low when making the sauce and only cook it briefly until fragrant.
  • For extra flavor, you can broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes of cooking after baking, watching closely to prevent burning the butter topping.
  • Serve this salmon with roasted asparagus or steamed rice.
