Make incredibly tender, juicy steak bites using your slow cooker. This easy crockpot steak recipe requires minimal hands-on time, perfect for busy weeknights when you want comfort food that tastes like it took hours.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes (steak bites)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed steak into your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder evenly over the steak pieces. Toss gently to coat.
  3. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the seasoned steak. Stir lightly.
  4. Place the pieces of butter evenly over the top of the steak mixture. Add the minced garlic over the butter.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the steak is fork-tender. Do not lift the lid during the first 3 hours of cooking.
  6. Once cooked, stir the steak bites gently to incorporate the melted butter and create a light sauce.
  7. Serve the crockpot steak bites immediately over mashed potatoes or rice, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, you can sear the steak bites in a hot skillet for 1-2 minutes per side before adding them to the slow cooker. This step adds color but is optional for this hands-off recipe.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the steak bites near the end of cooking and whisk 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of cold water into the remaining liquid. Cook on high for 10-15 minutes until thickened, then return the steak.
  • This recipe works well with sirloin or chuck steak for the best tender results in the slow cooker.
