This Cherry Dump Cake recipe is the simplest way to create a warm, bubbly dessert that tastes like a homemade cherry cobbler. It requires no mixing bowl and uses minimal ingredients for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix (or white cake mix)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional for variation)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. If using nuts, sprinkle them evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Pour the melted butter slowly and evenly over the entire surface of the cake mix. You want to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let the Easy Dump Cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with a white or butter cake mix.
  • Serve this Warm Bubbly Dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
  • This recipe works well as a Potluck Desserts Easy option because it travels well.
  • If you want a slightly different flavor profile, try adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the melted butter before pouring.
