- 4 firm pears (Bosc or Anjou recommended)
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into 4 small pieces (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the pears. Cut each pear in half lengthwise and use a spoon or melon baller to remove the core and seeds.
- Place the pear halves, cut-side up, in a small baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix the honey and cinnamon together.
- Spoon the honey-cinnamon mixture evenly over the cut surface of each pear half.
- Pour the water into the bottom of the baking dish.
- If using butter, place one small piece on top of the filling of each pear half.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Serve warm, spooning any remaining syrup from the dish over the pears.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute maple syrup for honey.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt for a complete dessert.
- To make a savory version, skip the cinnamon and honey; instead, top with crumbled goat cheese and chopped walnuts before baking.
