A simple recipe for cooking lean ground turkey burgers in the air fryer to achieve a juicy result without drying them out.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (93% or leaner)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, condiments)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush the patties lightly with oil.
  5. Place the turkey patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping the burgers halfway through the cooking time.
  7. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. The burgers are safe to eat when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius).
  8. Remove the burgers from the air fryer. If adding cheese, place a slice on top immediately after removing them from the basket.
  9. Serve immediately on buns with your preferred toppings.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, mix 1 tablespoon of finely grated onion into the meat mixture.
  • If your turkey is very lean (99%), consider adding 1 teaspoon of olive oil directly into the meat mixture to aid in moisture retention.
  • Always ensure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit for ground poultry safety.
