Make crispy tofu in the air fryer and coat it with a simple sweet chili glaze for a quick, flavorful meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
  3. Place the coated tofu in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  4. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the tofu cooks, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl to make the glaze.
  6. Once the tofu is crispy, transfer it to a clean bowl.
  7. Pour the glaze over the hot tofu and toss gently until all pieces are coated.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Pressing the tofu thoroughly is key to achieving the best crispy texture in the air fryer.
  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the tofu with cooking spray before adding the cornstarch mixture.
  • Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce based on your preference for sweetness and spice.
