Cook moist, flaky cod fillets quickly in your air fryer with a simple lemon herb seasoning. This recipe provides the ideal time and temperature for excellent results.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6 ounce) cod fillets, fresh or thawed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the cod fillets completely dry using paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick and promotes better texture.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, parsley, dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Brush the oil and herb mixture evenly over both sides of the cod fillets.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius) for 3 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with a little extra oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Place the seasoned cod fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overlap them.
  7. Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes. Cooking time depends on the thickness of the fillet.
  8. Check for doneness: the fish should flake easily with a fork and reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius).
  9. Remove the fillets carefully from the basket and serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

  • If using frozen cod, do not thaw first. Increase the cooking time by about 4 to 6 minutes and start at 360 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) for the first 5 minutes before increasing to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius).
  • For a crispier exterior, you can lightly dust the oiled fillets with 1 tablespoon of panko breadcrumbs before air frying.
  • If your fillets are very thick (over 1 inch), you may need to reduce the temperature slightly to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) to cook through without drying the outside.
